What is laser treatment for pigmentation and age spots?
Age spots and pigmentation issues can develop over time, and become especially prominent as we reach middle age. Age spots are caused by an excess of melanin in the skin, and develop through sun exposure. At London Real Skin we use the Harmony XLi laser platform with a 570 wavelength hand piece for treating pigmentation conditions including brown marks on the skin, sun spots and freckles. It is a safe and effective treatment with minimal downtime.
The laser light is absorbed by the melanin / pigment causing heat destruction of the cells. The pigment in the skin will appear darker as the cells are lifted to the surface causing a light scab, which will then shed and reveal the lightened fresh skin.
